The Dickinson County Healthcare System (DCHS) seeks a full-time Medical Assistant to join their Physician Services Urology team in Iron Mountain, Michigan.
This position works under the direction of physicians and mid-level providers (Nurse Practitioners or Physician Assistants) to provide exceptional patient care as we strive to become an employer of choice and a premier healthcare provider in the region.
The Medical Assistant reports to the Physician Services Manager.
RESPONSIBILITIES.
- Provide direct and individualized care of patients.
- Maintain effective, appropriate, and professional communication with hospital staff, patients, and care providers at all times.
- Document and maintain data on patient record.
- Perform venipunctures, when needed and after proper training.
- Ability to float to other DCHS clinics as needed and/or assigned.
- Ability to work occasional irregular hours.
WAGE/BENEFITS. Starting pay of $14.61 – $17.33 per hour based on years of experience. In addition, the position offers medical, dental, vision, retirement plan, paid time off (sick, vacation) and life insurance.
SCHEDULE. This is a regular, full-time day-shift position with varying start times between 7:30am – 8:30am, or as assigned.
MINIMUM AND PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS.
- Medical Assistant Certificate required.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification with AED instruction or ability to obtain within 2 months upon hire.
- Previous experience in a clinic, office and/or outpatient nursing required.
- Basic knowledge of immunization schedules from birth through adulthood.
- Ability to manage a diverse workload and prioritize tasks.
- Ability to physically and mentally carry out the functions of this position.
- Exceptional customer service skills with a professional demeanor that ensures trust, competence and compassion amongst patients and team members.
- Ability to successfully pass a pre-hire drug screening and background check.
