Scheduling Specialist

This position reports to the Patient Access Manager.

RESPONSIBILITIES.

  • Schedule time for procedures as requested by referring Physicians and professional staff.
  • Work with various hospital departments to adjust schedules to utilize unused time due to cancellations and to accommodate patients in need of immediate or emergency procedures.
  • Contact hospital staff affected by schedule adjustments to ensure patient is prepared and necessary personnel and equipment are available.
  • Confirm demographics and ask appropriate health related information in order to pre-register patients; input the information into a computerized system in order for patients to obtain hospital services and the business office to efficiently bill and collect from the correct payer(s) to resolve the account.
  • Trains new staff in all aspects of job tasks and effective use of information systems.
  • Follow policies, procedures, directives, and compliance standards established by hospital and supervising staff.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and professional communication with hospital staff, patients and visitors.
  • Perform clerical and other duties as assigned.

Registered Nurse (RN): Home Health

The Dickinson County Healthcare System (DCHS) seeks a part-time (almost full-time) Registered Nurse (RN) to join their Home Health team in Iron Mountain, Michigan. All levels of experience being considered.

This position is responsible for the delivery and coordination of home health care for patients including educating the patient, assessing self-learning needs, and provides leadership by working collaboratively with team members to maintain standards for professional nursing practices.

The RN reports to the Division Manager and supervises Home Care Aides.

RESPONSIBILITIES.

  • Comply with best practices in nursing as well as established home health policies and procedures to render optimal care for patients.

MINIMUM AND PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS.

  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing required.
  • Licensed Registered Nurse in the State of Michigan required.
  • Licensed Registered Nurse in the State of Wisconsin or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
  • 3 years’ experience as a Registered Nurse and/or 1-year experience in a Medicare certified home health or public health agency preferred, but not required.

Registered Nurse (RN): Float Pool

The Dickinson County Healthcare System (DCHS) seeks regular part-time, night shift Float Pool Registered Nurses (RN) to join their team in Iron Mountain, Michigan.

This position is responsible for the total nursing care of patients and requires someone flexible to work in various departments, as needed, which may include the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Medical, Surgical, Pediatrics, Infusion, Ambulatory Care Unit (ACU), Emergency Department, and Post Anesthesia Care Unit.

The Float Pool RN reports to the ICU Charge Nurse, Nurse Manager and Hospital Supervisors; ICU will be home base for this position.

  • Licensed Registered Nurse in the State of Michigan.
  • Previous nursing experience in ICU, ACU, Medical/Surgical Unit or Emergency Department preferred.

Laboratory Technical Supervisor

The Dickinson County Healthcare System (DCHS) seeks a Laboratory Technical Supervisor to join their team in Iron Mountain, Michigan.

This position oversees the technical operations of the core lab by serving as a technical resource for waived testing; reviews quality control, calibration, maintenance records, and interlaboratory peer data; evaluates and implements new testing platforms; coordinates proficiency testing and employee competency data; and assists the manager in the overall direction of the lab.

This position reports to the Laboratory Manager and supervises Lab Technical Staff, as assigned, including Lead Techs (MT/MLT) and Lab Technicians.

RESPONSIBILITIES.

  • Evaluates pre-analytical variables, peer data, performance criteria, and establishes limits for quality control to assure accuracy and precision of lab testing.
  • Maintains technical competency in the lab.
  • Provides coverage in all areas of the lab as needed and/or during staffing shortages.
  • Assists with department staffing and scheduling.
  • Oversees proficiency testing, method and analyte validation (reviews proficiency data with administration and clinical staff; assures supervisory surveillance of quality control, maintenance procedures, and patient testing is performed and meets regulations).
  • Assists with customer service to lab clients; assure testing, reporting and lab services are accurate, dependable and efficient.
  • Assures technical policies/procedures are reviewed and maintained (evaluate new methodologies and instrumentation, evaluate workflow and process, contribute to departmental policies/procedures).
  • Assist with personnel management (interviewing, hiring, employee planning, evaluate staff competencies, performance reviews).

MINIMUM AND PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science or related degree preferred.

The ideal candidate is someone task minded and able to accurately assemble patient trays, deliver meals, receive/record dietary orders using a computerized system, assist patients with menu selection, clean and sanitize soiled dishes, restock, and service the cafeteria including operating a cash register.

This position reports to the Food Services Supervisor.

RESPONSIBILITIES.

  • Assist patients with meal selection using a dietary management computer system and in coordination with diets as assigned by Dietician; communicate discrepancies and issues to Dietician as needed.
  • Assemble and deliver patient and guest trays according to menu selection; pick-up tray when patient is finished.
  • Deliver food and beverage orders to other departments; assist in preparation for and delivery of special function orders.
  • Serve meals and maintain proper supplies in the cafeteria; run cash register, receive, and count money accurately.
  • Operate dishwasher; wash dishes (pots, pans and carts) using proper cleaning and sanitation procedures.
  • Assist cook by cleaning vegetables, preparing salads and desserts, and performing various other food prep tasks as needed.

Social Worker (MSW)

The ideal person for this position has a compassionate disposition able to provide assessment and psychosocial support to patients, families and caregivers, collaboratively working toward objectives of achieving the best possible quality of life.

This position reports to the Manager/Administrator for Dickinson Home Health.

RESPONSIBILITIES.

  • Evaluate psycho-social problems experienced by patients or caregivers. Uses discretion and judgement to support patients and families with complex needs related to terminal illness, grief and bereavement; provides therapeutic interviews/referrals as needed.
  • Provide ongoing clinical support and professional guidance to develop/evaluate an individualized plan of care, addressing the unique needs of the patient.
  • Facilitate communication among patients, families, all members of the Interdisciplinary Team (IDT) and the Medical Director; facilitates IDT meetings every 15 days and is core member/resource to team members as an advocate for patient care.
  • Recognize signs and symptoms of death; provides education and support to patients, caregivers and team members.
  • Determine appropriate interventions/goals for the patient and family based on clinical assessment.
  • Advocate for needed services and support on behalf of patient and family.
  • Records in a timely manner evaluation data, progress notes, and interventions including client and family’s response to interventions in the medical record.
  • Develops and maintains working relationships with community health, welfare, and social agencies, coordinates volunteers, and educational/promotional activities.
